Myth:

Talking about
suicide may
give someone
the idea.

Fact:

You don’t give
a suicidal person
morbid ideas by
talking about suicide.

Bringing up
the subject of suicide and
discussing it openly
is one of the most
helpful thing you can do.

Abstract —

(Sur)Vive is a survival card game project that aims to prep players to cope with a dark period either in their own life, or that of a loved one.
Through the gameplay, players will learn about the topic by standing in the shoes of a suicidal person, while at the same time learning how to offer help and support to those who need it. With its sensitive topic, this project aims to be neither clinical nor a therapy tool but rather to be perceived as a storytelling medium or common ground for people to become more understanding, and to help open up the topic to a younger audience.

*The playful experience in this game is only an attempt into creatively tackling suicide issue in youth.

— Fact Check —

Studies say that suicide is a preventable death yet,
There is one death by suicide in the world every 40 seconds,
in the U.S. every 12 minutes. And those number could be
as young as 15-24 as suicide is the second-leading cause
of death in the United States among people of those ages.

We've all been there before:

A friend or loved one feels down, maybe even depressed, but we're not sure how to raise the subject. Will it offend them? Could it make them feel worse?

First we need to know the common components when individuals are carrying out suicidal plan.

The solution is to practice, practice and practice!

The objective of the game is to survive and help other players to survive a suicidal plan. In the process, players learn how to deal with dark thoughts and very difficult periods in their lives.
If every player survives 14 turns, all players win, Else if any player succeeds their suicide plan before the last turn, the game is finished and there is no real winner.
